Meal Policy:

As of September 1st, 2022, Katie’s Kiddie A-cat-emy no longer provides lunch meal service. This decision was not taken lightly, as we have always enjoyed providing nutritious meals to our students in the past. However, due to changes in meal service policies at the State level, and in order to avoid an increase in base tuition costs, each student will be required to bring a lunch from home every day. We are still able to provide a breakfast and snacks throughout the day to your child, and of course, nutritious lunches will be kept on hand in case a meal is forgotten. We appreciate your understanding and assistance in the implementation of this policy, as we strive to keep the price of our quality childcare as low as possible.

Lunch FAQ:

Will you be able to refrigerate/re-heat my child’s meal?

—Yes, we have a refrigerator and microwave on site, and are happy to reheat your child’s lunch.

Are there any nutritional requirements for my child’s meal from home?

—No. DFS policy stipulates nutritional requirements for meals provided by childcare facilities, however, meals from home are exempt from these policies. We ask that you try and provide as nutritious a meal as possible for your child(ren).

What if I forget to bring my child a lunch? Will my child be sent home or go without a lunchtime meal?

—No! We have procedures in place and limited availability of emergency meals in case a lunch from home is forgotten. We ask that you do your best to ensure that a forgotten meal does not become a regular habit, however, as parents we understand that these things will happen from time to time!

I have an infant/toddler. Will I be required to provide my child with baby food/formula? Will this food be shared with other children?

—All food brought by parents is organized and stored in a specific container belonging to your child. The center also maintains a supply of high quality communal baby food/formula in order to ensure every child stays fed as demand may dictate. All formula will be made according to parental instructions, and stored and heated per manufacturer’s recommendations. We have a refrigerator and bottle warmers on site, and all bottles will be cleaned and sanitized regularly.

I want to bring food to celebrate my child’s birthday. Is this okay?

—Yes! We love birthday parties, and encourage your children to celebrate with their friends. We ask that you try and bring store bought/prepackaged foods, if they are to be shared with other children, and ask that you avoid foods containing nuts and nut products. If you do not wish your child to receive any particular foods, please let the staff know, and your wishes will be entered in your child’s file, and all staff members will be notified.

I’d like to take my child to lunch. Is this okay?

—-Yes. However, keep in mind that you will be required to check your child in and out as you do at drop off and pick up to ensure we keep an accurate record of all attendance.
